The photographer of “Che”
Rene Burri, the Swiss photographer who took one of the famous pictures of Cuban-Argentine revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara has recently put together a collection of his works. Many of the 400 photographs in this new book have never been published before.
In 1963 Burri met for two hours with “Che” who was, according to the photographer’s recollection, walking restlessly up and down in a rather dark room. But at some point during the meeting “Che” sat down, with a cigar in his mouth he gazed into the distance… and the famous photograph was taken.
